Hi! Meine Name ist Natalie Reinsch und bin die Leiterin des Projekts „NS-Unrecht ‚Entartete Musik‘“. Ich bin Historikerin und Kuratorin mit einem Fokus auf die Geschichte des 20. Jahrhunderts. Da  ich leidenschaftlich gerne Swing tanze, war mir die Verfolgung der Swing Jugend durch das NS-Regime bekannt, da ich den Film „Swing Kids“ gesehen habe. Ich habe das Projekt konzipiert, um neue Bildungsprogramme über die Geschichte des Nationalsozialismus und den Widerstand dagegen zu entwickeln. Die Beschäftigung mit der Geschichte des Lindy Hop und die Verfolgung von Swing-Tänzer:innen während des Nationalsozialismus eröffnen die Möglichkeit, sich mit verschiedenen Themen wie Rassismus, Antisemitismus und Antiziganismus, aber auch mit Widerstand und den Spielräumen des Einzelnen in einem totalitären Staat auseinanderzusetzen.

Moin. Ich bin Philipp Mangels, Kulturhistoriker mit Schwerpunkt auf Ostmitteleuropa und Teil des Teams um des Bremer Bündnis für deutsch-tschechische Zusammenarbeit. Bereits in meinem Studium habe ich mich wesentlich mit Sub- und Jugendkulturen beschäftigt und ich sehe in der Swing-Jugend viele Anknüpfungspunkte zu diesem Thema. Besonders faszinierend finde ich dabei die Selbstbestimmung junger Menschen, die sich weder von Erwachsenen, noch von Regimen vorschreiben lassen, wie man zu leben hat. In unserem Projekt freue ich mich insbesondere auf die pädagogische Arbeit mit Jugendlichen, die auch heute klare Vorstellungen von ihrem eigenen Lebensstil haben. Ich möchte nicht nur über die Geschichte lehren, sondern auch viel von den Jugendlichen lernen.

Hallo! Mein Name ist Ramona. Ich mache gemeinsam mit Melika das Social Media des Projekts. Studiert habe ich Public History und Medienwissenschaft mit einem Fokus auf Erinnerungskulturen als auch Medienkommunikation und NS-Aufarbeitung.
Seit meiner Kindheit tanze ich, hauptsächlich Hip Hop, weshalb ich die Verfolgung von Swingtänzer:innen umso unvorstellbarer, ihr Engagement mutig und selbstbestimmt finde.
Ich freue mich auf dieses Projekt, weil ich es liebe, unterschiedlichste Menschen zu treffen und mit sowie durch sie zu lernen. Außerdem bin ich gespannt darauf, die Geschichte(n) der Swing-Jugend mit Euch zu teilen.

Hi! Ich bin Melika Yildiz, Studentin an der Universität Bremen.
Ich studiere Politik- und Religionswissenschaften und interessiere mich für die Geschichte des jüdischen Lebens, da ich jüdische Wurzeln habe.  Seit drei Jahren arbeite ich bereits in der PR-Abteilung des ŠTETL FEST, eines internationalen. jüdischen Festivals in Brünn. Zugleich bin ich (als Tschechin) Mitglied im Bremer Bündnis für deutsch-tschechische Zusammenarbeit.
Das Thema des Projekts „NS-Injustice degenerated music“ ist für mich äußerst interessant, da es eine andere Perspektive auf die NS-Zeit ermöglicht. Deshalb bin ich sehr froh, Teil des Teams zu sein. Gemeinsam mit Ramona bin ich für die sozialen Netzwerke des Projekts zuständig.

Hi, my name is Natalie Reinsch and I am the director of the project “Nazi Injustice ‘Degenerate Music'”. I am a historian and curator with a focus on the history of the 20th century. As I am passionate about swing dancing, I was aware of the persecution of swing youth by the Nazi regime, having seen the movie “Swing Kids”. I conceived the project to develop new educational programs about the history of National Socialism and the resistance to it. Dealing with the history of Lindy Hop and the persecution of swing dancers during National Socialism opens up the possibility of dealing with various topics such as racism, anti-Semitism and antiziganism, but also with resistance and the scope of the individual in a totalitarian state.

Moin. I am Philipp Mangels, a cultural historian specializing in East Central Europe and part of the team of the Bremen Alliance for German-Czech Cooperation. During my studies, I was already heavily involved with subcultures and youth cultures and I see many links to this topic in the swing youth. What I find particularly fascinating is the self-determination of young people, who don’t let adults or regimes tell them how to live their lives. In our project, I am particularly looking forward to the educational work with young people who still have clear ideas about their own lifestyle today. I don’t just want to teach about history, I also want to learn a lot from the young people.

Hello, my name is Ramona. Together with Melika, I’m responsible for the project’s social media. I studied public history and media studies with a focus on cultures of remembrance as well as media communication and coming to terms with National Socialism.
I have been dancing since my childhood, mainly hip hop, which is why I find the persecution of swing dancers all the more unimaginable and their commitment courageous and self-determined.
I am looking forward to this project because I love meeting different people and learning with and through them. I am also excited to share the story(s) of swing youth with you.

Hi, I’m Melika Yildiz, a student at the University of Bremen.
I’m studying political science and religious studies and I’m interested in the history of Jewish life because I have Jewish roots. I have been working in the PR department of the ŠTETL FEST, an international Jewish festival in Brno, for three years.
